No, you’re not lazy or broken

The Real Reason Health Habits Crumble

Here at Health Lounges, we've had a lot of discussions about how the pandemic affected people's health and fitness.

Many struggled. (Obviously.)

Only these weren't just folks who had difficulty with health habits before COVID.

Even health-conscious people who "seemed to have it all together"... suddenly didn't. And for some…

It felt impossible to get back on track.

Sure, it makes sense that the onset of the pandemic would disrupt routines.

But that disruption seemed to linger… and linger… and linger.

At the same time, we also saw the opposite: people who improved their health and fitness habits despite the turmoil.

How did they succeed while others felt like they were floundering?

We have an answer.

When it comes to health, most people focus on fitness or nutrition (ideally, both).

But sometimes, that's not enough.

To support fitness and nutrition habits—especially during significant life upheavals—you need solid sleep, stress management, and recovery skills.

"They're the foundation on which those fitness and nutrition habits are built and sustained," says Dt. Mohit Mittal, co-author of HL's Recovery, Sleep, Stress Management Coaching Program (Worth noting: Dt Mohit Mittal has personally coached and taught thousands of people.)

This is to say: If your habits crumbled during the pandemic (or during any other stressful life event), it's NOT because you're lazy or broken.

More likely, your foundation of sleep, stress management, and recovery skills may not have been strong enough to support your fitness and nutrition.

Until next time,
