Get your health & fitness “unstuck”

How Stress Can Crush Healthy Habits

What if we told you that…

Has the pandemic brought us all together?

Sounds ridiculous, right?

Well, if we’re only talking about masks, vaccines, health guidelines, and government mandates. Those have all been polarizing.

But when it comes to stress? It’s not hard to see we’re pretty much all connected there.

And if the pandemic hasn’t increased your stress? Well…

(Just kidding: We’re happy for you! Really!)

As for the rest of us, a recent study from the University of Nebraska shows how extra stress may have affected our health and lifestyle behaviors.

Specifically, here’s the percentage of folks who experienced “undesired changes in lifestyle behaviors.”

Okay, not surprising. Unless, of course, you were expecting the number to be even worse. (Reasonable, by the way.)

In another study...

University of Toronto researchers followed people already enrolled in a weight management program (their doctor referred them) when the pandemic started.

A key finding: “Over half of the patients report worsening overall health and mental health and worsened physical activity or diet during the pandemic,” said the researchers.

Some participants said weight management had “become secondary to the pressures of COVID-19.”

So…

The struggle is most definitely real.

What you’ve felt in yourself is happening to lots of folks.

Pandemic stress, frustration, and fatigue have shifted many people’s priorities from “thrive” mode to “survive” mode (and “beast” mode to “least” mode).

That’s made health and fitness progress harder than ever—it’s made health and fitness maintenance harder.

The good news is that people are looking for ways to swing the momentum in the other direction.

But we realized they needed help.

Only it’s a different kind of help than typical health and fitness “just do this” advice. It needs to meet folks where they’re at RIGHT NOW—not just physically but mentally and emotionally, too. (Perhaps especially mentally and emotionally.)

So we asked ourselves: What might the first steps look like? Where do you even start?

We made RSS Program (Rest, Sleep, Stress Management) for those still stressed and struggling but ready to get “unstuck.” To begin making meaningful forward progress, no matter what the starting point.

If you’re ever looking for more knowledge and tools to help yourself, check out our RSS Program to see if it might be a good fit.

Until next time,
